The symptoms of skin cancer are the easiest symptoms to detect. This is because cancer of the skin usually manifests itself in abnormal skin growths that are in plain sight. Although these may sometimes look like a simple sore or a pimple, when it fails to heal over time, this can immediately alert the patient that something is wrong.

White Americans of European descent, who make up a heavy chunk of the American population, seem to be particularly prone to skin cancer. The fact that the vast majority of Americans diagnosed with cancer of skin belong to this racial group although Americans of all other ancestries - who live in the same conditions -are much less inclined to get affected is testimony to this fact.

| The symptoms of non melanoma skin cancer can usually be seen quite easily. They tend to occur most often on skin that is exposed to the sun. It will help you to spot skin cancers early if you are aware of how your skin normally looks. That way, you will recognise any changes more easily. Remember to get your partner or someone else you trust to check your back or other areas that you can’t easily see. This is very important if you sunbathe a lot or if you regularly work outside without a shirt on. |
